Hi all,

I was trying to set up speech recognition on a computer running windows
10 creators update.

It had a conflict with screen readers.

So, I said to myself, "well, I'll just restart windows, and that's when
the fun began, but it sure was not funny at the time.

I had sound, from the sound card, but no speech from any screen readers.

So, I got my computer guy, Rick, to come over and get my computer, and
he took it home, and plugged it in, and no kidding folks, everything
talked. He did not have to do any repairs on the computer. He just
plugged it in.

We had a major laugh on that one!!! I told him, "wow, pal, thanks for
that great computer repair, hehe!!"

So, if you try to set up windows speech recognition on windows 10
creators update, and you then, get no speech from your screen reader, no
matter which one you use, do the following:

1. Do a hard shut down and the computer will shut off.

2. Unplug all the cords from the computer.

3. wait 10 minutes for windows to reset itself, because that's how long
Rick waited to plug everything back in.

4. Now, plug back in all your cords.

5. Turn the computer back on, and you'll have speech.

We live and learn, all the time with these things!

Harry
