Yes, Ana G and Mike Pietrik nailed it! Unfortunately, this move towards monopoly or monopolistic competition has been going on for quite some time within the sighted community so it should be no surprise that this is taking place within the community for blindness products as well (in fact, one should be less surprised by its happening within the blindness community, given that the blind and visually impaired populations are such an insignificant portion of the total population). On the bright side, I have heard about some movement in the availability of inexpensive braille displays in one, and possibly two, other corners, and that, at least, may keep VFO from raising braille display prices in the near term.
