He specified that he was on a Window 7 system w and the vendor was HP. I can't seem to find anything about the run (windows+r) history, but if you go to the desktop and hit tab so that focus is on the start button you can then bring up a contextual e menu with shift+f10. In this menu is a properties and there are a couple of checkboxes for remembering history. No specific mention of the run button there, but perhaps it will work.

Try Disk Clean. If that doesn't fix it then you may need a 3rd party application like CClean. If you have any more questions, please include the version of Windows you're running.
