I use MIXW with jaws. It works OK, some jaws curser use but I do it with no
problems. I'd bet it's scriptable but I'm not a programmer, don't have the
time or patience to ever be one or the interest so I won't be the one
writing scripts for jaws but I think it's very doable. Steer clear of FLdigi
and it's author, it won't work with screen readers and he has no interest in
changing that.

you using and what screen reader as well?
