Hi Jim,

Welcome to the list.   I don't have one and don't know the difference 
between the 71  and 71A, but you can find a text manual of the 71A at:
icanworkthisthing.com

Follow the links, first for amateur gear, then handhelds, and you will 
find it.

I took a quick look for this radio here, but didn't see anything.  Maybe 
I didn't look hard enough.
