RTL_fm is not too bad to work with. I have once or twice and had some
success with it.

Hi all,
Sorry if this may have previously been mentioned on the list. Maybe t=
his is old news.
If you don't mind working with command line programs,=20 this utility,
rtl_fm is completely accessible for tuning the RTL2832 dong=
les.=20

http://kmkeen.com/rtl-demod-guide/index.html

Batch files can be easily written and used for whatever frequency you'd l=
ike to monitor as well as placing the tuner into a scan or search mode.=20=

Quote from Website:
Rtl_fm is a general purpose analog demodulator. It can handle FM, AM and=
SSB. It can scan more than a hundred frequencies a second.=20=20

Here are three script examples to program the tuner:
.
Music on the Radio
.
rtl_fm -M wbfm -f 89.1M | play -r 32k -t raw -e s -b 16 -c 1 -V1 - .
Police Scanner
.
rtl_fm -M fm -f 154.42M -f 154.75M -f 154.82M -f 154.89M -s 12k -g 50 -l =
70 | play
.
Or, for searching a specific range
.
rtl_fm -M am -f 118M:137M:25k -s 12k -g 50 -l 280 | play -r 12k ...
.
Note that these scripts are case sensitive. Use capital M for dash M, mod= e
for example.
Aside from the rtl_fm utility, the SoX, Sound Exchange, application is ne=
eded.=20
I had issues with the latest version 14.4.2, so the earlier version 14.4.=
1 works fine. It can be found here:
.

Download from SourceForge
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sox/files/sox/

sox-14.4.1a-win32.zip
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sox/files/sox/14.4.1/sox-14.4.1a-win32.zi=
p/download

.
After unzipping the file, rename sox.exe to play.exe in order to make the=
Play command work.
As with the other SDR programs, the Zadig USB driver must be installed. I=
nfo and downloads are here:=20 http://zadig.akeo.ie/

.
Guess you could say I'm very pleased with this program. It has its limita=
tions, but they're worth it.
Gud luck.
