Sounds like Eric did alright though when I sold my TS480 I got
$650 for it with the VGS1 installed which the sighted guy
probably could care less about, but he was a local ham, I bought
my 590 from a local ham and I think everyone is all warm and
fuzzy happy about the deals we got. Jim WA6EKS

Thank you very much, Eric.
Your report of your experience confirms the good things I have
heard.
Of course, you probably didn't get as much as you could have for
your TS480,
had you tried to sell it on your own, since I think they are
going used
today for something like $700, but I am not sure their trade-in
price for
you was totally unreasonable.
Here's my question now:
Did you have to send them your rig first so they could appraise
it, or how
did the entire trade process work?
I may give them a call tomorrow just to get more info too.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Hopefully, others than just
me will
benefit as well.

Hi Tom,
You asked for experiences regarding trading in equipment for new
with Main
Trading Company.
A few weeks ago I called them and said I would be trading in a
Kenwood
TS480SAT toward the purchase of a Kenwood TS590S.
They offered me $550 in trade.
I received the new gear on December 22nd with the VGS1 and Tcxo
installed.
They charged me $50 to install the accessories.
I am well pleased with this company.
