Wow, Dave!

Considering the conditions you had to deal with, you actually did quite
well!

Makes my 372 total number of contacts not look so imprressive! (grin)

Subject: Field Day 2015

We never know what Field Day weather will be like here in Southern Oregon.
One year the temperature was moderate, but a thundershower blew in and
lifted the tent we were under carrying it across a nearby road and dropping
it astride a pickup. Our paper logs went flying with people running to
retrieve what they could while others were rushing the gear into cars to get
away from the rain that had started falling. That brought an abrupt end to
that Field Day in the middle of Saturday afternoon.

Another year it was steady rain with temperatures in the mid 50's and
everyone was freezing. I was shaking so badly I could hardly keep my hand
on the paddles. Despite the weather problems, we came in first in Oregon as
3A.

This year we were in the midst of a heat wave with the temperature reaching
104 on Saturday. We were sheltered from the sun and had fans running, but
it was still rather unpleasant. My operation Saturday evening was curtailed
when my Astron power supply overheated and shut down. Despite the problems,
we had fun and look forward to next year. I only logged 278 QSO's, which
was down from previous years, but was without 20 meters where the other CW
station was operating. He more than made up the deficit my lack of 20
meters caused in my log total. The two phone stations did very well. I
don't have the final tally yet. I was using N3FJP's AC Log and others were
using N1MM. The logs willbe combined and sent off to ARRL. I don't know
how the competition is with 4A, but we should at least place fairly well in
Oregon if not nationally. Who knows what next year will bring in the way of
challenges.

Dave, W7OQ
