OK  Matt,

Since you don't have enough to read, be sure to  read about the data 
mode selection of the 480 and  how to set the DSP  filtering for data 
mode.    There is similar filtering in the 590, but  I don't do it this 
way so I'm not familiar with it's use.

You would want to toggle your mode selection until you hear "L D" 
meaning lsb data.  Menu 45 toggles data filtering on and off, but you 
will have to read up on this  to figure it all out.
