Steve:

Before I did a similar operation last year, I checked with Dan Henderson at
the ARRL contest branch, because I originally was thinking I'd have to run a
1 D operation, with D meaning home station commercial power.

Dan said that if I did this, many people would not want to work me, and he
suggested that I go with 1A, and that, if I submit my log to the ARRL, I
should specify I ran 1A commercial.

To be honest, I had never heard of that approach before, but I guess I
figured that if it came from the ARRL, I should be ok.

And, by the way: I don't mind your questioning this, because I had done the
same myself at least initially.

Tom,

You had said earlier you were going to operate 1A for field day. If I'm
reading the rules correctly (not a given), looks like class A is for
portable club or non-club, 3 or more persons. Looks like class B is 1 or 2
person portable.

You might want to peek at the rules at the ARRL sight, but I doubt if the
FD police will kick in your RV's door, no matter what class you select.

Good luck, have fun, Steve KW3A
