Tom,

If none of this other stuff works for you, perhaps try leaving the power 
supply on 24/7.   Some people don't like to do this, and some do it as a 
matter of course for years on end.

As long as 12 vdc is  on to the radio, the 590 is always on, just 
"asleep" and hitting the power button wakes it up.

If you have everything working the way you want  and you don't turn off 
the ps, the sound  cards won't switch every time you turn on the ps. 
As I said before simply doing the change in JAWS menus solved it for me 
in both Win 7 and XP, but things seem to work different in Michigan, so 
maybe try the change in Windows sound devices, and as a last resort, try 
leaving power on.
