I had a client that ended up with SearchProtect and Groovorio etc.

Malware Bytes didn't clean it, and it isn't regarded as a virus.

I ended up using Adwcleaner, which is extremely accessible.

I think I posted a review of it a couple months ago.  You need to re-download the program, as it doesn't save on your computer and they update it quite often with newer definitions.

Just a warning...

If you use a screen-reader, make sure you have a hotkey to restart it.  When it says it will close all programs--it means *ALL PROGRAMS*.  You can restart the screen reader after this to access the computer restart butrton to finalize the cleaning.
