Harvey:

I'm thinking of adding AdwCleaner, which has been highly recommended to me
by a number of people on this list, and on other lists I belong to.

I currently use AVG, but am thinking of switching to Microsoft Essentials as
my main anti-virus program.

AVG found no virus on my computer, nor did the guys at the computer shop
here in town where I took the PC last week.

I'd consider messing with the popup blocker settings, but since the problem
only started occuring a few weeks ago, I can't imagine that would be my
problem in this particular situation.

Subject: Internet Explorer question

For tom and anyone else who is interested: since I have BestBuy's tech
support plan, I spoke with Jake of their geek squad, and he took over my
computer to see what was happening. He thought it might be the Adware virus
which he says often plays ads through your speakers, but when he looked at
Webroot Security and did a scan it revealed no active threats. He did turn
my pop up blocker from medium to high which we hope will solve this problem.
He also made sure I had the most current updates for Webroot security. I
don't recall the program Tom is thinking of adding.
