You probably need to partition/format the drive.
Rt-click the drive and select "Format". You'll want the NTFS file system
and probably just one partition.

I can't get my computer to recognize my new Hard Drive in My Computer.
I have a Compaq Presario running Win 7.
It does not show up in My Computer, but it is listed under Disk drives
in Device Manager.
Any suggestions appreciated. I need to backup my present HD.
