I don't run a ground here either, I haven't for years.  Everytime I try, 
it seems to crate more p problems with ground loops and so forth.  If you 
do have to run a long ground wire, one old trick is to use shieldee cable, 
use the center wire for the actual ground and bypass each end to the 
shield with a .001 cap.
