Harry,

It sounds like you're interested in trying the Mac. If this is the case, 
do it, so you won't wonder if OSX really is better than Windows.

When I was using the Mac, I sometimes lost speech. Most of the time, 
pressing command+F5 once or twice brought it back, but sometimes I had 
to do other things.

I seem to remember that your computer was bought used five years ago. 
Even though it was in good condition, it may be that your problems are 
caused by the computer feeling its age. As our machines get older, they 
slow down. Web pages take longer to load, which means they're more 
likely to crash, yada-yada-yada. My first few computers had long life 
spans, but the ones I've bought over the last ten years have died much 
younger. five years sounds to me like is replacement age. I know I was 
pleasantly surprised by how well things worked when I bought my newest 
machine.
