Dear Doug,

This is at least a question I can answer. Smile. To install the batteries,
first, use a fillips screwdriver to remove all four of the rubber feet. This
leaves 4 screws left on the bottom of the mic. Next locate the two screws
one on each side of the switch. Leave these in place. Remove the other two
screws though. This will allow the bottom plate to drop off. On the bottom
plate, there is a place to install two AA batteries. 

Even with fresh batteries, I get low audio reports unless I "kiss" the mic.
This is a pretty common issue with Kenwood mikes anyway. At least it is with
my voice. I had a friend whose voice was so low that he could overdrive a
mike when it was a full arm's length away from him. Smile.

want to have to quote kiss the mic in order to use it. Any help from fellow

Microphone Preamplifier

You can use this microphone with any KENWOOD transceiver. It has been
designed especially for FM and SSB mobile transceivers. You can
control the preamplifier

using the MIC AMP IN/OUT switch on the inside of the base of the 
transceiver.

First renove the base of the microphone, then slide the switch to the
IN position to turn the preamplifier ON. With the switch in the OUT
position, the preamplifier is bypassed and the batteries are
disconnected. To conserve battery power, turn the preamplifier OFF
when it is not in use.
