The VR500 covers from around 300 KHZ, not sure quite how low, up 
to nearly 1.3 GHZ in Am, Fm wide and narrow, upper and lower 
sideband and CW which is not really CW because there doesn't seem 
to be any filtering on that mode.  Jim WA6EKS

I have had two of these radios in the past.

I gave them both to my wife Cathy who is also a ham.  She is

KB3WBO and got
licensed as a technician a few years ago.

One Yaesu radio works with the rechargeable pack and the
other
one for some
reason only works with alkaline batteries.

When I get one of my colleagues at work to type in the Nifty

reference card
for the vr-500 into MS Word I'd be happy to send you a copy
as an
attachment.

I also have these ref cards for the THF6A and one of the Tyt

Chinese radios.

I will give you my observations on this radio when I get it
and
have used it
a little while.

Universal Radio has some really good deals on used gear
every
once in a
while.

A few months ago I managed to snag a portable with am/fm
short
wave and the
aircraft band.

What is really unusual is that the aircraft band comes right

after 108 mhz
fm but then the radio switches automatically to am mode for
the
aircraft
frequencies.

It is all analog and quite nice.

It is made by a company in Brazil called Motobras that used
to
also make car
radios and cassette rcorders.
