Paul,

You are exactly correct. There are too many diets out there. I personally
do not care for the Atkin's diet, in a case of MS, a friend of ours
developed, it was a great source of aggravating it, I won't say it brought
it on, but it is a bad potion for anyone who is in danger of it.

I personally like the Body For Life plan which includes working out.
Nothing can replace exercise no matter how you chop up a pill, diet plan,
drinks, shakes or whatever. In a nutshell ahhahaha, pun intended, the plan
is eat a fist sized portion of a protein and carb six times a day and
veggies are free foods. Do that six days a week and the seventh day is a
free day to eat whatever you like, within reason of course. This and the
exercise plan does really great. Proteins can be found in cottage cheese,
tuna, meats, eggs, other fish. Carbs you might try a baked potato, wheat
bread, not enriched wheat bread which is sold falsely, but 100% wheat or
seven or five grain breads. Potatoes do contain high starch and like Kathy
said will produce sugar but not like eating sugar straight up. You then can
use Stevia in place of sugar, or honey is good too. If cholesterol is a
concern then you adjust those foods accordingly for example remove the
yokes out of the eggs or eat only a percentage of them. Protein is in the
whites anyway. It really depends on the plan you wish to subscribe to, if
it makes sense to you helthwise, and more importantly, that it is not a
splash in the pan diet plan that you can't live with from here out. That is
why I like Body for Life. Admittedly I strayed off, due to several
circumstances, but I'm now returning to it having corrected those
circumstances as well, and I'm not really too out of shape. You might pick
up the book Body for Life and see what you think or check it out at a
library for free.
