I'd like to know about this, too, especially given that the ID-51 handhelds don't have keypads. Rob, KB5UJM, uses one and seems to think it's OK. Barry, VK6something, on this list, also uses DSTAR radios. He might even have the ID-5100, which has a touch screen, so would be interested to know how he manages that.
