Hi Pat,

I bought this MIC on the used market. Thus, I do not have a manual. I do see
a switch on the bottom though.

Isn't there an on-off switch?  I had a MC50 and as I recall there was 
a switch under the base that toggled between preamp on and off.  Some 
time ago, perhaps i am mistaken.  But with the switch set to off, it 
is effectively bypassed.
