Mike,

Sorry to hear this. I know this is your "dream" radio, but some dreams
turn into nightmares. As with your tuner problem, only you can decide
when enough is enough and when to stop throwing money at a particular
piece of gear.

I'm sure even the new radios have a percentage of failures, but I think
it is a small percentage.

The 590's from this list that have gone back for service recently have
been for a free out of warranty mod. This mod was begun at the
factory starting with Jan 2014 production. Only cost to those of us
who sent in the radio for the mod was one way shipping. The mod and
return shipping was done at Kenwood's expense.

The only other "real" problem I can recall was some low value fuse in
the antenna line. For a short time in early production (2010) a 350
ma fuse was used, later replaced by a 500 ma fuse.

Our late friend from this list K7RX (SK) had 2 fuses fail, one being
pilot error. He had 2 stations connected to his antenna system using
a 2 position switch that didn't have enough isolation to protect the
590 from the 600 watts of the other rig/amp.

Good luck on this, I know it's aggravating,
Steve KW3A
