Hello Tom, 

I finally found a good use for the ALS600.  It makes a good intermediate
amplifier to drive the Henry 8K Ultra.  The 8K Ultra takes approximately 400
watts to drive it to full output.  Since I don't have a 400 watt transceiver
like the Yaesu FTDX-9000MP, I need to increase the output of my 200 watt
Icom to fully satisfy the Henry.  Drive the ALS600 to about 375 watts, then
drive the 8K with the output of the ALS600, it works great, HiHi.

To all those using the ALS600:

 

I was doing some cleaning and re-arranging in the home shack today, and
decided to re-acquaint myself with my ALS600, since I don't think I had used
it since the Michigan QSO Party contest in late April.

 

Anyway, I am wondering what the "remote" setting on the ALS600 band select
switch does?

 

For those who have the ALS600, the first six positions cover 160 through 10
meters, with 12 and 10 meters being accessed via the auxiliary position.
The last position on the band switch is after the auxiliary position, and is
labeled "remote".

 

I can look the info up in the manual, but if someone knows off hand, I'd
appreciate not having to dig through the manual to find it.  (smile)
