One thing that annoys me about AT&T's pushing of the U-verse service is that 
it is all fiber optics.  This may be true for much of the backbone, however 
as Martin said the last few thousand feet may be a copper twisted pair 
unless they have installed fiber all the way to your residence.

At present, I can only get U-verse internet and phone but no TV.  This is 
probably because I am to far from the POP.
