Jim, I just changed the coax on the rear from ant 1 to 2 and then got output
on no.2, none on no.1 after changing switch on the front panel. Also I
had my x y l look at the small jacks on the rear, Phono jacks and the left
one says rx ant so I have not ever used that jack but the two big ones, S O
239 are for two different ants but both send and receive on those jacks.
Anyway that is the way mine works. 73

Ed, I have to differ here. Holding RFAtt switches the receive antenna. As
you say, it's the phono jack in the lower left corner of the rear panel
looking at the radio from the front. To switch from antenna 1 to 2, hold
the PreAmp button, just below the power button.

You can doo all this with JJRadio too. I often forget just what switch is
what these days.

By holding the rf/att button, that changes from ant1 to ant 2. The ext
rx and jack is the left hand phono jack on the left side of the rear panel
looking from the front. it has two dots by it. 73

Jim,

You are right and I stand corrected. Like most of the bells and
whistles on the 590, this is one I've never used, or I would have known
how to turn it on.

I better read that manual again.
