Michael it's advisable to simply email or send a message to this seller
asking if he'll ship to Canada. Most US sellers will do so...some won't,
but most will.
Also, if it's being shipped UPS, be careful as there are hefty customs and
brokerage fees charged by our wonderful Canadian government on packages
coming in via UPS and not via united states postal service or USPS.
USPS is subsidized and UPS is not.
This customs and brokerage is over and above the shipping cost...though if
the seller does say he ships to canada, there is a relatively new system
that will calculate the full cost including customs and brokerage and list
that amount on the item...but as you say, this guy does not have Canada as a
shipping destination so this wouldn't be the case in this listing.
He may also be willing to send the package USPS if you request it and this
will certainly save you money when the box arrives at your door.
If you use paypal, the seller does not see your credit card info and ebay
also has a payment protection service where you can get your money back if
the item is not as advertized or whatever...and this service does work as my
boss has utilized it a few times when receiving items that weren't as
advertized when they arrived.
Anyway, millions of people use paypal everyday and it's one of the most
secure payment services on the internet.
In fact, far more secure than giving your credit card number to someone on
the phone.
It is also easy to link paypal directly to your personal bank account if you
don't wish to use a credit card...though as a Canadian buyer, often the
payment process is very slow when you pay from a Canadian account...it takes
an extra couple days to process and go through. Whereas a credit card is
instantanious, or as quick as is possible with these things.
Good luck and don't fear the modern age lol.

Subject: Strange eBay behavior

Hi all:=20

Well this is strange, there's a remote VFO for my 102 on ebay and the =
seller apparently will ship to a bunch of countries except Canada.=20
Is this a choice or is it eBay? I would think it would be more expensive =
to ship to Europe and Australia than to Canada. =20
I had my XYL create an eBay account and she went to UPS to determine the =
shipping and insurance and its 56.55 and he's asking 200USD plus =
shipping.=20
I posted to the Yaesu FT-102 Yahoo group that I was looking for the VFO =
and its customary for me to sign with my call sign.=20
So you'd think he'd look up my call sign before responding to my posting =
to the group that he had it for sale, unless it was a general posting.=20=

Coincidence? I don't think. LOL Anyway I just looked and he hasn't =
changed his shipping options as I suggested so I could buy it from eBay, =
so we'll see.=20
I could use PayPal but it would take 8 business days for the deposit to =
take place and I want to move quickly.=20
