I am trying to help a friend of mine get into ham radio. He is studying for
his Tech license. He asked me for a recommendation on a basic, inexpensive
144/440MHZ transceiver. He wants something he can easily switch from home to
his vehicle. While I am tempted to suggest one of the Chinese radios, I
really think he needs something a little more substantial than that. He is
fully sighted; so, he does not have the same issues that we blind ops have
in terms of rig limitations, e.g. voice modules, etc.
Any suggestions???
