Yup, David,I will do that, once I'm totally sure I'm correct on all counts.

I have written up and saved what I have done for future reference, and for
sending to others who might need help with similar issues.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Hi, all.

As an update to my sound card issue with the N3FJP software and my Windows
XP logging computer, here's what I have figured out.

I set the on board Windows PC sound card as my default sound card in the
Jaws utility menu.

Then, I went into the control panel, under audio devices, and set the
default playback device sound card to sigma tel audio. I had two options
here. One was the USB codec option, and the other was sigma tel audio.

With the default playback device set to sigma tel audio, now everything
seems to be working.

Jaws speaks, the N3FJP wave files work, the N3FJP rig interface works,
sending CW via the N3FJP software works, and the ARCP590 programming
software seems to work via the USB virtual comport connection.

What was confusing me was that, in the Jaws utility menu, sigma tel audio is
listed as an option, but if I chose that rather than the Windows PC sound
card as my default, I would run into problems. As soon as I plugged the
TS590 virtual comport USB connection in, I'd loose speech.

Anyway, I'm not sure if this is the normal way to do things, but at least
things now seem to be working together as needed.
