More and more people are using Macs or iPhones to post messages. In many
cases, these devices place "smart quotes" and other non-ASCII characters in
the messages, and then the software on this listserv converts them to
another form before passing them along to the distribution list. Sometimes
when a message or messages to which it replies contains information from a
web page, the same thing can happen.
