Hi All,
This question is probably directed to people who use braille displays
with their computers.
I don't have a lot of experience using a braille display to control my
PC. I read the display, and sometimes I write with it, but the qwerty
keyboard is always nearby for keyboard shortcuts, like ctrl+s and
alt+f4. I'm a fan of the QBraille because I can do everything I need to
do without worrying about having a standard keyboard on hand. For me,
the QBraille would be perfect if the space bar or maybe the entire
space-bar row were below the braille cells, but that's a whole different
post. Anyway, ...
Someone recently gave me an Orbit Writer. I've never really been
interested in the device, but yesterday when I was messing with it and
reading the manual, I started feeling that it could be useful for odds
and ends, like turning video on and off in Zoom or writing quick chats
without having to move away from my notetaker so as to switch to the
computer.
So far, how"ever, I haven't found any information either in the manual
for the Orbit writer or for NVDA about how to simulate commands that
involve the alt, ctrl, or shift keys.
Do such simulations exist either for my specific combinations (Orbit
Writer with NVDA or with Narrator), or do they exist in general? If they
do, do they vary a lot or are they more or less standardized?
Thanks for any wisdom.
Ciao
