Everett,
You can update to Windows 10 by visiting the following page:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/accessibility/windows10upgrade
I've updated several computers. I don't remember any problems. I do
remember that one computer lost speech, but I think it was when I
updated from 8.0 to 8.1.
Anyway, You'll have to turn on Narrator once the computer reboots, so
you should probably visit the Narrator page to learn to navigate:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/22806/windows-10-narrator-keyboard-commands-touch-gestures
The process is pretty straight forward. One thing to keep in mind is
that narrator often reads a button twice. When you tab to a control, it
says, "Cancel button," and when you tab again, it says, "Cancel"--or
vice versa. The one you press enter on is the second one. The other one
is just a label.
Good luck, and happy upgrading.
Ciao
