Tom,

That's a great question and i, never having owned an amp, am certainly not 
as qualified as many on this list to answer it. However, I believe your 
guess about better regulated and controled rigs these days may be the 
answer. But if companies are advising us not to use it, you'd think it must 
be a liability somehow. I'll be interested to read the comments from much
