Remember, you have to account for both sides of the sleeve.  I'd think 7/8
inch would be closer.  If the connector isn't on the coax yet, you can go
with a smaller hole, and add the connector after the coax is through the
hole.
Its certainly easier to make a hole bigger rather than smaller.
