I'm learning how to use the Kenwood control software to configure my TS590. I'm using this on an HP laptop with 32-bit Windows 7. The release notes with the Kenwood software say I need .net framework 3.5, but I have 4.5. (My thinking is that 4.5 is OK, it's just newer.) 

I decided to try using the USB cable, so I got the Kenwood virtual Comm port software, which is part of the Network Command package. I installed this software without connecting the USB cable to the radio (the release notes said to do it this way). After the driver was installed, I connected the USB cable to the radio, and another driver installed successfully, and the default sound card was taken over by the radio, and I lost speech from Jaws. I got that back by disconnecting the radio and setting the sound card in Jaws to be "speakers."

When I tried the Control software, it seemed to be accessible, but I find that I can't communicate with the radio. I made sure the right port is being used (the virtual port used Comm3).

So my question is: has anyone here used the USB cable to connect the Ts590 to the computer? Do you have to fiddle with the baud rate?
