If those of us on the list who are interested in accessible
scanners can assist, let us know who to call or email. I was on
a kick with Whistler, the company that bought GRE America, to
make their new handheld scanners accessible but so far haven't
gotten anywhere which is frustrating since the time to talk about
accessibility is when new products are under development, much
better than trying to build in accessibility after the fact.
That's like trying to put an elevator into a multi-story building
after the building is designed, built, and inhabited. I
sincerely hope you can get someone to listen to your thoughts
about accessible scanners. Jim WA6EKS

Hi, Bob. Absolutely agree. Actually, just got an email from
them. Seems a friend of mine at the store where I bought the
scanner
contacted someone in tech. support over at Uniden, and I got an
email
with their phone number. Will call them later today.--Matt,

Hi,
Everything on the BCD436 is access through the menus. Volume,
squelch,
lock and unlock and everything is through a multi-level menu,
but at
least its in a menu which is better than a touch screen that
doesn't
give any feedback at all.

Hi, Folks. I bought a Uniden BCD436HP, and have yet to figure
out
most of it. Most annoying is that it doesn't hold the date and
time,
and I can't adjust the volume. The manual is next to useless,
and
trying to get hold of Tech. support at Uniden is next to
impossible. Anyone have tips on how to use this scanner?
Thanks in
advance.--Matt, N1IBB.

Hi Jim,
The scanner is not very accessible, but it is better than the
home
patrol's touch screen was.

Well Bob what about that scanner you bought fairly recently?
Have
you figured it out? Really want to know if it's accessible? I
really hope you can figure out your Yaesu and that it's
accessible. 73, Jim WA6EKS
