I didn't think of the cable issue.  Based on that, I think I'll jjust keep
the buffer box and call it good.  It certainly can't hurt.

Thanks for the input.

As you can tell, I'm still learning and trying to figure all of this out!

Tom,

You can go either way, but  if you get rid of the buffer, you will need to
buy or build an interface cable.  7 pin din at the radio end, and either 1
or 2 RCA plugs at the amp end, depending on if you want to connect ALC or
not.

You can find cables online from ebay and other places.  Probably around $20
shipped unless you find a real deal.


Guess you have to weigh the cost of the new cable  against  whatever value
the buffer has on the used market.
