I would also like to thank my wife for all her help with my Ham projects.

Oh, my, what our spouses have to put up with! My Palma has helped me put up
antennas and helped me read meters and even help me figure out schematic
diagrams, even though she knows nothing about reading schematic diagrams!
<Smile> She has read many manuals to me that were not accessible any other
way, and she has walked through step-by-step instructions on how to build
antennas and various pieces of gear. Yes, there have been those times when I
was Done building some new antenna that she would shake her head and say: "I
don't know what that contraption is, but whatever it is, I sure hope it
doesn't attack us in the middle of the night!" <lol> So, we owe a lot to our
spouses and significant others that tolerate all of our craziness! <Smile>

Ron:

Yes, date nights are very very important for oh so many reasons!

My XYL and I are coming up on our 40th wedding anniversary next June, and it
sometimes amazes me that we both have survived some of the insanities we
have experienced.

However, survival and accepting each other's little quirks as you go is at
least part of the key.

And, yes, this does have something to do with ham radio, when I think of the
many antenna instalations she has helped me with over the years, and some of
those equipment purchases I somehow managed to convince her were necessary.
(grin) I am not afraid to say that there are many times that I am not quite
sure what I would have done without her. Yes, I'm sure I would have figured
out how to survive somehow, because we blind folks are survivors, but it
wouldn't have been nearly as easy or as fun.

Along those same lines, my wife, Palma, and I still have date nights.
Recently, on our date night, we went out to a very nice restaurant for
dinner and attended a live stage play. It was a delightful evening. On
October 11, we are having another date night where we will go out for dinner
in Murray Kentucky and attend the Bill Cosby stand-up performance.

What does this have to do with ham radio? If you keep your wife happy, she
will keep you happy, and sometimes that means the wife agreeing to your
investing money in ham gear that you really don't need! <Smile>

Oh, that goes both ways. She buys things that she really don't need too. I
guess it must work because we have been married now for 36 years and are
happily looking forward to another 36.

Excellent advice, Pat, from a man who knows.

It's good to take the XYL out to dinner every so often anyway, regardless of
our various ham radio and other gadget purchases. (grin)

Tom,
Until you see a definite need, probably not cost efficient to do it! Take
Sue out to dinner instead.
