Kudos Alan, for lots of hard work and interesting messages especially about
the big station in Florida.

This is a bunch of crap. I lost my sight due to bilateral Glaucoma when I
was three. I have worked hard all of my life to buy what I have. I had to
go out and find employment, and I had no one helping me to find it. I was
the first person in my family to go to college, and that college was one of
the finest in the world, MIT. I had to apply to MIT, and I did it on my
own, with nothing more than a reader to assist with the application. While
I was at MIT I never had one book that was accessible to me, except thru
readers, and I paid the readers out of my own pocket. No silver platter was
given to me, nor would I have wanted one. Personally I am sick and tired of
some folks thinking that they deserve everything for nothing. I never got
anything for nothing, and again, I wouldn't have wanted to.

Just a quick note.
I wrote a long drawn out E mail reply to this message, but I decided to =
just say this.
Not everyone, or even the vast majority of us have the seemingly =
inexhaustible disposable income you must have. You bought a radio that =
costs 8 grand, have it=92s little brother, have amps and antennas =
costing more than most of us make in a decade, ar obeying a brand new =
top of the line phone and talking about an app that for most of us is a =
significant investment like it should cost an order of magnitude more. =
Those comments are frankly insensitive and ignorant. The rest of us who =
did not come into money and hav been blind all our lives, and have not =
had the silver platter of opportunities like you obviously have are more =
concerned with putting food on the table. It never stops amazing me how =
many rich people are in this hoby and think nothing of dropping $100000 =
on a ham station. Then there are the rest of us who are the majority and =
live in the real world where price tags do matter.
I have an aging ts-2000 that is 14 years old and is dying. I will not be =
able to replace it when it fails completely. The sub receiver is dead, =
the vhf uhf receiver no longer has a preamp function I can =
control, although the button still beeps. The molex plug in back needs =
replacing as it failed and has partially melted due to overheating =
because one of the contacts stopped working for a while. I can=92t just =
go out and buy another radio to replace it. I have to live in a world =
where I have to make decision s on which bill Ipay if I want to put food =
on the table and make the house payment. I do not even have cable tv. y =
girlfriend works 55 hours a week as a nanny and her income plus mine =
barely covers the necessities most of the time.So I am not afraid to say =
that talking like that, saying an app should costs $999 is disgusting. =
Maybe with all of that unlimited income you apparently have you should =
give out I tunes gift certificates to buy the ap for everyone here, or =
part with some of those radios you probably have stacked collecting =
dust.
