Butch,

You can just hit f3 and type in the search box.

Of course, if you are looking for a program or a control panel setting, you 
can hit the windows key and type part of what you are looking for.  If you 
hit down arrow, windows will list the current results.  You can add me text 
to the search if you need to get more precise.
