When I go outside the ham bands I leave the tuner on when I'm near the bands
after having furst tuned near the edge of the band.  Since you can tturn the
tuner on and off with a simple tap of the tuner button its easy enough to check
at any time if you're getting any benefit outside of the ham bands.
