Steve, I was reviewing all of the important messages I've saved from you and
several of the others here on the list concerning issues with the TS-590,
and I came to the same conclusion. If a long press on the drv/meter key
drops the power down to a milliwatt output to one of the rca jacks on the
rear for use by a transverter, which it does, and if that is band specific,
then, that is probably what happened. A long press isn't very long, like 1/2
seconds as I recall. I remember Tom and some others changed the time delay
on this button to the maximum of 1 second, which is what I need to do too.
If that issue is band specific, then, that is probably what must have
happened. I may try to
intentionally duplicate it to verify that is the problem.

Ron,
Have you been using the pf keys as was mentioned earlier? If so did you
perhaps do a long press on the drv/meter key to change what the pf B key
reads?
While a short press on this key will toggle between meter functions, a long
press will activate the drive function which puts a milliwatt output to one
of the rca jacks on the rear for use by a transverter.
If this is the case, another long press on the key will return to meter
mode.
I think this is band specific and you aren't the first one bitten by this,
if this is in fact what is happening. A sighted ham would see something on
the display but that doesn't help us much.
Maybe something else, but in view of recent posts on the pf keys, this may
be it.
