I have a 5-C. I tried turning it upside down with the place where it is charged facing up while on a phone call. It did not mute.

Perhaps there is a parameter that could be set to mute the phone when it is upside down?

I don't ever recall seeing that capability on the iPhone, except for the
mute button that is on-screen when you are in a phone call.
