As previously stated on this list, the G5RV is not a dipole nor doublet
antenna.

Lou devised the antenna before unbalanced line was available to the general
public, but he realisied the limitations of amateurs' budgetes and was aware
of their ingenuity.

In consequence, he devised an antenna system which was centre fed, ladder
line, balanced line, leading to an LC network to offset any adverse SWR
presentations to the transmitter/receiver.

His original concept has been bastardised over the years, often for
commercial benefit, without respect to his original design.

In regard to the current thread, as his design is a balanced system, no
grounding is needed apart from the usual station ground.

BTW1: I base my comments on a lecture given to a local club, by G5RV
himself, after the introduction of the WARC band.

BTW": in his later life he he held a YV callsign.

Don't grounding antenna. If it is a G5 RV or any type of dipole type
configu=
ration it doesn't need to ground. Just ground your station.
