Hi
Well, today I grabbed a 6 foot latter and hung a rope over a limb on a short
tree on the property. Then I pulled up the one leg of the dipole. The center
of the dipole was hanging on my duel band vhf/uhf antenna. As I pulled up
the dipole, I heard a snap and found that the thin metal tubing on the
vhf/uhf antenna mast had broken, and was not supporting either antenna. So,
I moved the center of the HF dipole to a stake about 3 feet off the ground.
I connected the hot side of the coax to the hot side of the dipole and did
not connect the ground side. I do not currently have any PL 259 connectors.
Just doing my best with what I have. Smile.
Next, I connected the TW1 meter, and found that my SWR was only running 26
to 1. I tried doing a bead break on the shield of the coax, and the SWR
dropped to 9.3. Well, the signals jumped on receive, but my transmit power
is way down there. Perhaps tomorrow I will be able to do some more work on
the antenna system. as of tonight I can listen, but still not quite on the
air. It will come Smile.
God bless,
Mark
