the front page tabs are not intractable controls like they should be. At least, not on OS X Lion using Safari web browser or chrome. Those should behave like controls and they don't .

just curious, what browser/OS combination are you using? That might have some bearing on this. SOme sites specifically code for one browser, and that can cause no end of problems for screen reader users not using that specific setup.
