A couple choices, the icom 718 has speech that reads frequency,not sure 
what they're going for these days.  The next choices would be a kenwood 
480 or perhaps the 590	which is now at around $1250 which is a real buy 
on that quality of a radio.  Synthesizer board is extra.  Neither of the 
above go beyond six meters if that matters, in fact, the 718 only goes 
to 30 meg as I recall, but a nic e radio for its cost, around $750 I 
think.  It does not have an internal tuner, which the 480 and 590 do.
