Hi,

After I found out that I could buy the crystal module from China for 
1/4th the price that Kenwood charges for the upgrade, I bought it and 
installed it.  After removing the bottom cover of the 590, all you have 
to do is unplug one cable, remove one screw, and install the new board 
with the screw that was removed,plug that cable on the new upgraded 
board and move two jumpers and your done.  I did ask for help from 
another ham who did the mod and thanks to his verbal instructions, the 
installation time actually took less time than it took to remove the ten 
bottom screws.
