Hi gary,
After setting up the frequency with tone and the offset you want what i 
would do is then set the radio on Memory 7
then go back to the vfo. then hit A or the funtion then turn the channel 
solector once to the right
then hit the C key and it should give a slightly longer beep and the 
frequency will be in Memory 8
i hope this helps.
