There are a little more than 60 people beta testing N1MM Plus. I don't know
when it will go into public beta stage. Bugs are being constantly found and
squashed, and there is a new version released every day. So it is a work in
progress, but basically works.
So far I would say that it is at least as difficult to configure with a
screen reader as the previous VB6-based version was. There is more
flexibility in screen layout, fonts, color selection, number of windows
open, etc., and some of these settings might be useful in providing a better
screen reader interface. I have logged a number of QSOs with it, using
Window-Eyes 8.4. I haven't configured W-E as much as some of you have. I
don't think they have created too many new accessibility problems by using
VB dot net. If you are satisfied with Writelog, ACLog, etc., I would stick
with those. I know that NVDA can also read the new program's screens.
There are issues in getting the proper field name read as you use Tab,
shift-Tab or the spacebar in dialogs and the log entry screen. I have sent
my observations and one bug report (an unhandled exception) to the beta
mailing list, and I think we can get some improvements in functionality as I
understand the possibilities better.
