Bob, my MFJ 993, which I've had good luck with by the way, will tune open

Thanks to all of you who have given thoughts on this topic.  The LDG line
looks interesting though if I am reading the ads correctly most of theirs
don't support ladder line.  That may not really be a problem though because
I am in the process of putting together a loop antenna and haven't made the
final decision on whether to go with ladder line all the way into the shack
or using co ax for the last few feet.  I do suspect that I will be staying
with lower power since getting an amplifier at this point is most likely not
an option.

At any rate,  all of you have been most helpful.
